Terms and Conditions for the installation of a natural stone
NJ Garden Services is experienced in the installation of natural stone paving and walling but we cannot account for customers personal tastes.
- Please note that natural stone is just that, natural, and therefore no guarantees of the exact colours, sediment deposits, pitching, fossils, fault lines or dimensions can be given. When ordering natural stone by the metre we have little control over the stones that will arrive. Please note that if you are extending an existing patio it is highly unlikely that a perfect match will be found as the availability of a certain colours, sediment patterns or even sizes will change as the mine faces progress into the mountains where the stone is sourced. Wholesalers will often change their suppliers so the stone may have even been sourced from a completely different seam or mountain.
- Once the stones have arrived they will be placed in position as they come out of the crates in the way the installer feels is best. If you the customer wishes to have an input in the positioning of stones you will need to be present throughout installation.
- We recommend that you physically inspect a sample of stonework before making a choice as brochure photography can sometimes be misleading. It is also a good idea to see your choice of stone laid in situ as a single natural stone may not be a good representation of the overall appearance of a patio.
- The very nature of natural stone sometimes leads to minor pooling after rainfall.
- Because the stones sometimes arrive in random sizes that don’t always match the pattern requirements, so we usually over order the quantity required to prevent a shortfall during construction. All surplus stone remains the property on N.J.Garden Services unless the customer has made a direct payment to the supplier for it.
- During the construction NJ Garden services will take reasonable steps to protect the work, however cannot be held responsible for acts of wanton vandalism or damage caused by persons other than our staff.
- Under no circumstances must any paving be walked or sat on until the installer has deemed it usable.
- The cutting of stones using diamond blades creates noise, dust and possible projectiles. Please prepare your property by closing windows and warning neighbours and under no circumstance approach an operative whilst a stone is being cut.
- After a period of time, weathering will occur on the stone as it is porous and rough in texture. This will result in a microscopic algae growing on the surface. This can be cleaned off periodically however one should not apply powered water jets to the pointing gaps as this can damage the cement.
- We appreciate your valued business and look forward to providing you with a quality, professional service.
